Hostel vs Home Life | Which is Better?

Differentiating the home or hostel life is not an easy ask for students to clearly demand the best place for the student, somehow, there are many reasons behind choosing hostel life as compared to home studies.

I have been living in Hostel for the last 2 years and I found out that Hostel life and home life are completely different with respect to almost everything. Below are the main points to think about home or hostel life for the students.

Hostel vs Home Life | Which is Better?

Hostel Life Plus Point:

Students feel free and decide their own wake up at whatever time they want according to their plan of study. Students can eat their foods according to their desire or they choose lightweight dinners rather than whatever is in the kitchen at home.

Home Life Minus Point:

In-home there are lots of bindings from parents about sleeping or waking time in the morning. Students feel awkward when others interrupt them while studying or in waking calls in the morning.

Student eating choices totally depend on parents' wishes.  You cannot add or delete any recipe if you don’t like to eat it. You should follow the mother’s rules in the home.

Hostel Life Minus Point:

The student should have to eat whatever the hostel mess provides on the menu, hostel kitchens must have more options to satisfy the students. There are many fests throughout the semester to entertain you and it solely depends on you whether you want to attend them or not.

Home Life Plus Point:

Indeed, there's no food better than what your mother cooks for you with her heart-touching feelings. There is rarely a family function in a year or two but you have to attend it no matter what.

Hostel Life Plus Point:

You are completely independent to leave your room whenever you want, take a walk at any time, and go wherever you want, there's no one to question you. You are always busy and always tired. No time for yourself.

Home Life Minus Point:

Before leaving the house you have to answer the following questions. Where are you going? Why are you going? You have enough time for your health care.

Hostel Life Plus Point:

You can stay with your friends in their room and have fun. You suffer from tragic hair fall since you don't have time to take care of yourself.

Home Life Minus Point:

You have to stay with your siblings no matter what and you will not have any fun with them. A proper haircare routine keeps your hair healthy.

Hostel Life Plus Point:

You can talk to anyone for as long as you want. The laptop is like your life partner, you stay with them as much as you want.

Home Life Bindings:

Talking to anyone over the phone for more than 1 hour will make your entire family members gather around you. Staying in front of your laptop for a long might put you in danger.

So both hostel life and home life have their own plus points but I prefer hostel life more. Hostel life teaches us many things which include what is self-care, how to be financially dependent, whom to trust how to manage things properly, and much more.

Hostel life is something that everyone should experience at least once. Well, we can't say which one is better because both have some pros and cons. Here are a few factors.

Freedom- We are independent at the hostel, we do whatever we like whereas at home we have to inform each and every activity of ourselves. Food- Obviously home food is far better than that of the hostel. Not even better, home-cooked food is bliss while hostel food is crap.

Schedule- There is no schedule in the hostel. Sometimes we stay awake the whole night for the sake of completing a series while we can't do this at home. Adjustments- Yeah we have to adjust a lot in the hostel which is very important for our upcoming life while we tend to deny adjustments at home.

Fun- Hostel life is known for its fun factor. Yeah, those Saturday nights, binge-watching with friends, and of course those birthday celebrations are way more fun which we miss at home. Loneliness- Sometimes we feel lonely at the hostel and crave home. But we never feel lonely at home. This is a major factor.

In conclusion, yes both are good in some way or another but the memories we make at the hostel are priceless.
